Diné College sees record 53 bachelor’s degrees ahead of May 8 graduation

Some positive news from AZ Central.

Diné College announced it would confer a record 53 bachelor’s degrees on Friday and feature more than 170 graduates on its website for about a month. 

The college predominantly serves a Navajo student population with its main campus located in Tsaile on the Navajo Nation, according to its website. The Navajo Nation has been hard-hit by the new coronavirus pandemic with more than 2,650 identified cases and 85 confirmed deaths as of Wednesday evening. 

Schools and universities across the nation and in Arizona moved to online instruction and canceled commencement ceremonies because of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. Diné College on March 25 postponed its spring commencement, according to its website.
