FAQs

 Is the Powwow open to the general public? Yes! All are welcome to attend. 

How long will I be there? Anywhere from one hour to eight hours – it’s up to you! 

Is there an entry fee? No. The powwow is free. 

How will I know what’s going on? Go to the Marin Indian Alliance website > Marin Powwow > Powwow Schedule. Also, the MC will keep spectators informed of what’s going on and any special protocols. 

Will I be able to get something to eat? Yes! There will be a number of food vendors selling items from Indian fry-bread tacos to kettle corn. Plan to eat at the powwow! 

What’s the best time to arrive? A highlight of the dancing is the Grand Entry at noon. Check out the Powwow schedule for other events you may want to see. 

How long will I stay? Plan on spending at least two hours – one to watch the dancing and one to check out the vendors.

Where will I park? The entire College of Marin gymnasium parking lot on College Avenue including the unpaved parking lot will be available for powwow parking. All parking spaces in these lots are free during the powwow. If the parking lot is full, try other College of Marin parking lots on the other side of College Avenue or on-street parking. There will be volunteer parking attendants at the entrance to the gymnasium parking lot. 

How do I volunteer to help with the Powwow? Go to the Marin Indian Alliance website > Marin Powwow > Volunteer Information. 

I’d like to be a vendor. How do I do this? Go to the Marin Indian Alliance website > Marin Powwow > Vendor Information. 

I’d like to have a non-profit table. How do I do this? Go to the Marin Indian Alliance website > Marin Powwow > Non-Profit Information. 

Will seating be provided? Yes. The gym bleachers will be open for seating. You can also bring your own chair with non-scratching pads on the legs. 

Will there be ADA access? Yes! Marin Powwow is ADA Accessible with many ADA parking spaces in the parking lot and an ADA ramp on the east side of the Gym/Athletic Complex.

What if it rains? All powwow dancing is in the gym, so rain will not be affected by rain. The vendors will be located outdoors but will mostly be in roofed locations. 

How many people are expected to attend? There will be about one hundred dancers, three or four drums, more than twenty craft vendors and at least three food vendors. Total attendance at the 2025 Marin Powwow was about one thousand people. 

Can I bring my dog? Please leave your dog at home. Only guide and comfort dogs are allowed. 

Can I eat and drink in the gym? College of Marin policy is no eating in the gym and no single-use water bottles on campus. Please enjoy your food outside and use a reusable water/drink container.
